What it's about
Two Pittsburgh detectives, Sweeney Birdwell and Joe Blocker, find themselves investigating a series of brutal murders targeting prostitutes, with various organs surgically removed from each victim. The case carries personal weight for Blocker, whose wife fell victim to similar killings in Las Vegas, an experience that left him with both a queasy stomach for gore and deep psychological scars. As the investigation progresses, the only concrete lead emerges in the form of a fez-wearing killer with apparent connections to Las Vegas underworld figure Joe Cairo, prompting the arrival of Detective Taylor's daughter Deedee, who possesses crucial information about the murderer's identity.
