Buddy (2026) — The Last Episode
At the edge of Diamond City, the children realize Buddy has sent them there one at a time in spirit, even when they walk side by side: each has been made to believe the others are only scenery. They stop, speak one another’s names, and turn back together. Their refusal leaves Buddy with no frightened child to single out, and his clubhouse grows quiet rather than producing another perilous task. Grace, drawn into the strange world, finds them gathered at its threshold. She does not promise that they will remember everything or that the place is safe. She simply offers her hand. The children take it as a group and leave Buddy behind, while he is left facing an empty set and an episode that cannot begin again. Their memories remain uncertain, but they are no longer his captives.
