What it's about
Shambhunath Mishra exists at the intersection of exhausted dignity and structural entrapment. His pension bleeds into bank EMIs he cannot control; his son's silence is its own violence. The loan shark Prajapati owns not just the mortgage but the air inside Shambhunath's home, bringing rot in the form of meat, liquor, and contempt into a space that runs on faith and restraint. Every small humiliation compounds. When Prajapati crosses the final threshold by naming a twelve-year-old girl as currency, Shambhunath's lifelong code of non-confrontation collapses inward and becomes its opposite. A screwdriver becomes the pivot point. What follows is not triumph but a slow reckoning with what a decent man discovers he is capable of when decency has been systematically destroyed.
