Is it worth watching? What should you know first?
What is Carrie about?
A sheltered teenager enters public high school and faces intense social pressures, viral bullying, and a complicated relationship with her protective mother—all while mysterious telekinetic abilities begin to emerge.
Is Carrie suitable for kids?
The supplied rating is TV-MA, so this is not a children's viewing choice. Its premise also includes bullying, public humiliation, and distressing family dynamics; the teenage protagonist does not make it a teen-friendly recommendation.
What kind of tone should I expect?
The premise suggests an unsettling blend of coming-of-age drama and supernatural horror, with teenage vulnerability and online cruelty central to the setup rather than a lighthearted high-school atmosphere.
Is Carrie based on a book?
Yes. The series adapts Stephen King's debut novel, Carrie. Mike Flanagan's television version reimagines the story in a contemporary setting that includes social media and viral bullying.
What it's about
Misfit student Carrie White has spent her life hidden away inside the walls of her home with her fiercely protective mother, Margaret. After her father's sudden, untimely death thrusts her into the unforgiving ecosystem of public high school, Carrie is forced to navigate a viral bullying scandal that tears through her community, the relentless pressure and casual cruelty of the social media age, and the awakening of mysterious telekinetic powers that rise alongside her adolescence.
